Weatherproofing — Check all exterior caulking around windows, doors, and siding joints. Vancouver's rain finds every gap.

Dryer Vent Cleaning — A clogged dryer vent is a fire hazard year-round, but especially in winter when the dryer runs more frequently.

• Test smoke and CO detectors
• Check crawl space for moisture
